Jan 25, 2009 · Maybe be the initial goal ,to create a hybrid concept mixing samurai and hip hop culture to please the more "american" viewers, is exciting. It was done by Watanabe in Samurai Champloo rather succesfully. But, afro samurai resurrection (again) is a disaster. Total unoriginal story line, crowded with cheesy cliches.

Sep 2, 2008 · Afro Samurai is a short and sweet manga that allows you to experience a simple, yet captivating story in an afternoon or so. In some sense, it reminds me of classic Hong Kong martial arts/action films - very clear and simple premise, but it's the amazing execution and visual spectacle that make it worthwhile.

Jan 1, 2003 · The Afro Samurai Pilot is an interesting little short for a few reasons. Firstly it's a pretty insightful look into the story, concepts and character designs that the main show would end up using or dropping. Second, its a great showcase of Takeshi Koike's animation style and aesthetic sensibilities.
