Lewis “Lew” Michael Soloff, perhaps best known or his work with the band Blood, Sweat & Tears, passed away at the age of 71. The cause of death was a heart attack. Soloff grew up in Lakewood, New Jersey, and began playing trumpet at the age of 10.
Born in Brooklyn, on February 20, 1944, Soloff was raised in Lakewood, New Jersey and started studying piano at an early age. He took up the trumpet when he was 10 and his interest in the instrument surged, thanks to the record collections of his grandfather and uncle.
