But in his early years on television he was the complete opposite, a real innovator, and a very underrated wordsmith who, at his best, could rival the likes of Ronnie Barker.

Benny's old and stale show was simply replaced by newer "broad" comedy such as Bobby Davro and Brian Conley. Elton didn't even have a regular ITV show until the awful Get a Grip, over a decade after Hill's death.

But sadly both BBC and ITV wiped lots of there old recordings made for TV, as the tapes that both BBC and ITV used to record programmes during the 1960’s and 1970’s where expensive to buy.

In that the women used to chase him odd how many people get this wrong way around. In real life Benny Hill was a shy person and socially found interactions a bit difficult.
