Synopsis. Marie works as a waitress in the seedy bar of her adoptive parents in Marseilles. She is in love with Jean,a dockworker whom she meets secretely. Petit Paul, a thuggish layabout, convinces her adoptive parents, despite Jean's protest, to let him take Marie as his woman.
