Data General was founded in 1968 by three former employees of Digital Equipment Corporation, who developed the first 16-bit minicomputer, the NOVA. The company grew rapidly in the 1970s by offering low-cost, compatible, and easy-to-use computers for OEMs, but faced challenges in the 1980s and 1990s as the market changed.
The Data General Nova is a series of 16-bit minicomputers released by the American company Data General. The Nova family was very popular in the 1970s and ultimately sold tens of thousands of units. The first model, known simply as "Nova", was released in 1969. [ 1 ]
