Derwig studeerde enige tijd theaterwetenschap aan de Universiteit Utrecht, maar verruilde deze studie voor de Toneelschool Arnhem, waar hij in 1994 afstudeerde. In 1990 was hij een van de oprichters van toneelgroep 't Barre Land. [1] .

Jacob Derwig is a Dutch film and television actor. In 2003 he married actress Kim van Kooten; they have a son Roman and a daughter Kee Molly. Derwig has been part of the ensemble of Dutch theatre company Toneelgroep Amsterdam since 2005.
