   前田勝浩、金沢大学ナノ生命科学研究所 教授・主任研究者. らせん分子とキラリティ. 前田勝浩教授は、動的らせん高分子の合成と応用に関する研究を進めている。 その目的は、分子の吸収や発光、色調、あるいは電気特性などの変化を目印として、標的分子のキラリティを検出できる新規キラルπ共役高分子システムを開発することだ。 「多くの生体分子はキラルです。 キラルな分子には、右手と左手のように互いに重ね合わすことができない鏡像の関係にある 鏡像異性体（D体およびL体）（※1） が存在します。 この性質は『キラリティ』と呼ばれています。 私たちの体は、鏡像異性体のわずかな違いを識別することができます。 たとえば、L-グルタミン酸には『うまみ』がありますが、D-グルタミン酸にはありません。
