Nueba Yol ( Spanish: Nueba Yol: Por fin llegó Balbuena) is a 1995 Dominican comedy-drama film directed by Ángel Muñiz. [1] The film was selected as the Dominican entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 68th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.
Nueba Yol (Dominican slang for New York) is the ever-elusive goal of the eccentric Balbuena, whose attempts to legally emigrate have been denied for years. Under the dubious influence of his friend Fellito, Balbuena mortgages his tiny home to pay a corrupt American Embassy consul for an immigration.
