Peter Pye. Rod Butler. The Honeycombs were a pop rock group which formed in 1963 in London, England. The band's original lineup consisted of Denis D'Ell (vocals, harmonica), Martin Murray (guitar), Alan Ward (guitar), John Lantree (bass) and Ann "Honey" Lantree (drums, vocals).
With Peter Pye replacing Martin Murray, the second single, Is It Because, stalled at #38. Eyes , which followed it, bombed totally. To the outsider, The Honeycombs had fallen into the dreaded one-hit-wonder syndrome and, before long, would be stacked on the rejection pile.
