CPA Australia don't have an experience requirement at all. Although I've been aware of it, that's an interesting decision from CPA Australia. That's why Macquarie Uni can offer its Masters degree combining the CPA program, whereas CA can't. A lot of people who do not have the full time job (mainly overseas students) tend to go through this path.

Macquarie Uni also offer the CPA program in their conversion Masters. The conversion masters is a preparation course for the CPA program. You will have to sit for the CPA professional examinations. You will graduate with the master's degree if you pass the CPA subjects (all 6 together). Do the CA if you can.
Well, considering that CPA Australia has about double the membership of ICAA there will always be a smaller portion compared to ICAA. Also, a fair number of CPA's work throughout the Asia Pacific region and not in Australia. So it would be interesting to see how the actual numbers stack up in Australia alone.
My view which should represent general view on this, that CA and CPA are almost similar; most accountant jobs would require either CA or CPA. I haven't seen one job mentioned about IPA.
