As an aside, one other interesting tidbit of information that was illuminated in the special features was that of all the main characters in Moana, only one was not voiced by someone of Polynesian descent: Heihei, the chicken (voiced by Alan Tudyk). Moana is featured and recognized as a Disney character, which means Ralph Breaks the Internet takes place sometime after 2016. Could that mean Wreck-It Ralph, the 2012 film, also exists in the universe of its own sequel?
Jun 3, 2019 · 18. No, Disney does not produce nor is making any traditional hand drawn animation. There is probably a good reason for this in Disney's eyes. Traditional hand animation is a lot of work. It's very time consuming and can't be changed easily late in production like CGI can and is expensive because of that.
Dec 13, 2018 · While this includes modern computer-animated characters like Anna, Elsa, Merida, Moana and Rapunzel which appear to be nearly identical to their versions in the original movies; it also features some princesses which I've only seen in traditional (hand-drawn) animation (ignoring live-action versions for the purposes of this question).
I've had a question on my mind since watching Moana (and listening to the soundtrack over and over).. Like many Disney musicals, especially the animated ones, the lyrics of the songs often contain important information or plot points, act somewhat like exposition, and act to move the story along.

Famous actors have huge fan followings of all ages, so the movie is target for all, instead of just the child. You can see the Disney's Mogli as an example. The movie was geared just as much towards adults as it was towards children.
