Feb 19, 2024 · About a week ago Windows Defender detected several malicious files inside an ISO file on my system. I didn't even know Windows Defender would scan inside ISO files. Either way, I manually deleted the ISO file from my system. Now my Windows Defender is stuck in a bad state.

When I try to access Windows Security through the Start menu or system tray icon, I can't find the usual 'windowsdefender' option. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Feb 5, 2024 · This is no longer the case, on the current update, Microsoft removed windows defender and it is Microsoft Defender now and it is no longer free , you have to pay for it. This is wrong in so many ways: 1. Windows Defender and Microsoft Defender are just the same thing under a different name. 2. Windows Defender/Microsoft Defender are free.
