Oct 1, 2022 · Went on a bit of a Stuart Gordon bender and he has a number of underrated flicks, Dolls and Pit and the Pendulum probably tied for my personal faves but Castle Freak is excellent also. Great physical performance from the titular character, terrific atmosphere.

The old Puppet Master DVD boxset came with an extra DVD that had about 45 trailers for other Full Moon films (I think Full Moon distributed Castle Freak) and the trailer for Castle Freak looked so cool. Still haven't gotten around to watching it even though I have had it on my Plex for a couple years now.
Dec 2, 2020 · Maybe it will be good but I truly doubt that it will have a yuck factor like the sex scene in the original. For being low budget and pretty under the radar Castle Freak had good makeup and good production value.
Oct 27, 2020 · Castle Freak (1995) I think I’ve found a Hidden Gem! I heard of Castle Freak on some documentary my dad was watching that was titled something along the lines of “best horror movies you’ve never seen” I decided to watch it and I’m glad I did.
Sep 25, 2021 · Directed by Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, From Beyond). Starring Scream King and Queen, Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton as a grieving couple that inherit an Italian castle inhabited by a mutilated, vicious, but sympathetic freak played amazingly by Johnathan Fuller. Great performances by all of them.
Oct 3, 2022 · I've never seen Let's Scare Jessica to Death, Haxan, or Viy, but the rest of those are pretty solid choices. I love me Castle Freak. You could always count me for anything directed by Stuart Gordon or starring Barbara Crampton. Castle Freak has both.
Apr 26, 2021 · Castle Freak (1995) is Stuart Gordon's a not-very-close adaptation of Lovecraft's The Outsider, starring Jeffrey Combs. It's okay, but I think most folks would agree it's one of Gordon's lesser efforts. Last year, another film of the same name came out - Castle Freak (2020).
The poster for Castle Freak just screams "Tubi Original" to me, so I've never been drawn to watch it. I also didn't like the original much, so there's even less reason. However, I have sat through The Resonator , so clearly my standards aren't particularly high, and I may just end up watching Castle Freak at some point purely out of completionism of Lovecraft adaptations.
