Some fans say that Ash committed (passive) suicide by choosing to bleed, even though he was not fatally wounded, but this is a misinterpretation. Ash was fatally wounded, and he had no chance of surviving.
Jan 19, 2023 · To start off, Banana Fish was never intended to be (and isn't) a story of love/romance. It is incredibly deeper than that. We, as humans, are very good at writing love stories, it's what we know best, but what Yoshida had intended with BF is to depict a strong bond between two young men (similar to that of in Midnight Cowboy).
Personally, yes. Give it a shot and see if it's for you. It's my AOTY. The final episode just released today so you can go and binge watch it if you want. I loved the manga and the anime so far has handled the adaption pretty well. It has it's problems like everything but overall I feel it's definitely a good watch.

One of the reasons why Shorter Wong resonates with me so much is because I appreciate him as a Chinese-American character. He's a complex major character that breaks stereotypes. He's lively, punk-ish, loud, most likely Cantonese (like myself!), and absolutely ripped (unlike myself (': ). I can't help but feel he needs more appreciation.

I’ve been looking around for it and the wiki says he’s between 17-19. I just rewatched banana fish after years and I’m really invested about knowing more so I was gonna read the manga. I came across angel eyes backstory and read it. Shorter refers to Ash as “kid” and he looks around fifteen but can’t tell due to how scrawny he is.
