Edward Yang was a Taiwanese filmmaker and a pioneer of the Taiwanese New Wave. He won the Best Director Award at Cannes for his 2000 film Yi Yi and is regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of Taiwanese cinema.
Edward Yang (1947-2007) was a writer, director and actor who ranked among the leading artists of the Taiwanese New Wave. He created films analyzing and revealing the themes of city and urban life, such as Yi Yi, A Brighter Summer Day and The Terrorizers.
