  1. Feb 14, 2021 · Check for a stiff link, sounds like theres a click every cycle of chain and near the end of the video keep your eye on the cassette which seems to have a weird chain flow. It would help if you could get someone else to spin the pedals so you could stand behind the bike and observe the rear derailleur/cassette area.

  2. Oct 3, 2014 · 0 I have a Specialize Roubaix that's about 10 years old with the Shimano 105 component set. I've started to develop a problem in the rear derailer where when I shift to a higher gear/smaller cog, the shifter "jumps" multiple gears. Happens whether I'm on the middle or big chainring in front. And yes, I know it's jumping multiple gears because it takes multiple shifts to get back into the gear ...

  3. Aug 27, 2019 · The chain likes to jump from the front sprocket, it is my impression that it makes no difference if the chain lies on the inner or outer cogs. Since I am unsure about the root cause I ask here for ...

  4. May 23, 2021 · have a 1x12 SRAM NX drivetrain on a fairly new full suspension MTB. Been feeling great but yesterday it began skipping a gear when I shift. That is, if I start in 1 and click 4 times I wind up in 6th ring rather than the expected 5th. The top and bottom limits seem ok because when I shift all the way through I do wind up on 12.

  5. The part about replacing the cables & housings, derailer, chain, shifter and cassette should precede the part about frame failure, otherwise it can give an impression of jumping to conclusions before exhausting the usual culprits, for those who don't read comments.

  6. Nov 6, 2017 · Someone told me you can use these techniques to control your jump. You mean while the bike is in mid-air? The change in angular momentum will induce a very slight forward tilt. Of course, if you engage the front brake in mid-air and hold it while you land the "forward tilt" will be quite a bit more pronounced -- in the worst case you would ...

  7. Jun 5, 2014 · 6. Your shifter needs adjustment. This is normal for a new bike as the cables stretch out a bit and everything "breaks in". If you bought the bike at a legitimate bike shop they should give you a free tuneup. – Daniel R Hicks. Jun 5, 2014 at 2:44. Seems to have tourney shifters and what not. – Batman. 8. Aug 22, 2012 · There are several types and brands such as N-stop, K-edge, Paul Components. This will sit on the inside and/or over the top of your chain on the front chainring which will help prevent the chain from jumping off the front ring. They are used widely in the cyclocross world to prevent this.

  9. Oct 13, 2012 · The likely cause is a worn cassette if the skipping is in the rear. Since the gears you use the most will wear the fastest the skip may be worse on some of them. But also look at the jockey wheels in the rear derailleur. If they have alot of wear they may not be keeping the chain aligned. If the front is worn and the back has never been ...

  10. After putting everything back on I indexed the gears - finally getting the hang of the front but first time indexing the rear derailleur. It all felt fine on the stand, but when I go uphill with the rear gears on the lowest cog (6), when the pressure is on the pedals I get a weird jumping, clunking thing keep happening.
