Marinette Dupain-Cheng is one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Adrien Agreste) of "Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie". She is a student in Collège Françoise Dupont.

With the Ladybug Miraculous, when inhabited by Tikki, Marinette transforms into the Superheroine Ladybug, who gains the power of creation in order to stop Hawk Moth and his akumatized villains.

    Physical appearance

Marinette is an attractive teenage girl medium height, pale skinned with dark hair with blue undertones, light pink lips, and light freckles on both sides and the bridge of her nose. She has light blue eyes.

    Civilian attire

Marinette's most common attire is a pair of pale sport pink rolled up jeans with a white tank top with pink flower designs. She also wears a light gray jacket with white cuffs. Her hair is pulled into pig tails tied with pink hair ties. She also wears a white and pink wristwatch on her right wrist.

    As Ladybug

When transformed into Ladybug, she wears a red leotard with black dots, her hair pulled back into pig tails with red ribbons. She wears a red mask with five black dots. She also has a red yo-yo with five black spots and golden swirl designs that is normally tied around her waist.

Marinette is a clumsy, sweet, and shy girl who doesn't have many friends at first. She aspires to be a fashion designer when she grows up, and is seen imagining her clothes on people. She is shown to deeply love her family, but is easily embarrassed by her father and is insecure about her public image. Marinette is knowledgeable about cooking, answering her father's question about soup easily, even after her traumatic experience with her first akumatized villain. She can find her way around tough situations, such as when Chloé Bourgeois threatened her and she managed to escape.

But unlike her TV show counterpart, when it comes to her feelings for Adrien, she had the patience to wait and slowly work up their relationship.

    As a civilian

Marinette is good at drawing, as seen in her journal. She was not good at the clarinet, but after she became Ladybug, she became better, most likely because of her newfound confidence. The same thing happened with her gymnastics, as she was able to actually stick the landing after becoming Ladybug. She is also very tough, as seen when she was injured and she managed to push Cat Noir away from Hawk Moth. She also appears to be a good swimmer, as seen when she managed to carry an unconscious Cat Noir and barely swim out of the lava, but this may have been because she was transformed into Ladybug at the time.

    As Ladybug

Ladybug has enhanced physical abilities, like agility, speed, and strength. She can fly with her yo-yo, and use it to grapple and throw herself. When empowered by love, Ladybug unlocks her power of Creation, allowing her to restore and re-create destroyed objects and even restore life, such as when she used it to restore Paris's building and plants after Hawk Moth renounced his powers.

    Adrien Agreste/Cat Noir

She first met Adrien at the library when she was hiding from Chloé, but she finds it hard to get a word out causing her to fall over a cart and but he helps her up and amoured she tried to ask him something but he disappears. However, their first encounter as their alter-egos didn't start off as well as she crashed into him through Notre Dome and she wasn't take off by his show boating, but once in action, she saw that this was his first time too. After defeating Gargoyle, she had tendency to bicker with him especially when Cat Noir called her a "watermelon", but after they go their separate ways, she finds Cat Noir ridiculous. Her opinion about him changed when they met again at the funfair as it was under attack by the Mime and Magician, and, by working together, they discovered the secret of their powers. Once everyone was saved, hearing Cat Noir demote himself to being her sidekick, she clarified they were partners as they "pound it".

    Wang Fu

Wang Fu is Marinette's teacher, and the Great Guardian of the Miraculous. They first meet personally when Marinette tries to save him from getting hit by a car. The same incident happens in the tv-counterpart, except in the movie, it was shown to be nighttime, and in the show, it was early in the morning. Wang Fu then disguises himself and talks to her (as Ladybug), and Cat Noir. He explains about Hawk Moth, and how their job was to work together to defeat him, and stop him from taking over the city. Towards the end of the movie, Ladybug returns the Butterfly Miraculous to him, unlike the tv-counterpart, which Wang Fu never receives it.

    Alya Césaire

Alya is Marinette's best friend. Chloe tries to tackle Marinette when she accidentally spills coffee on her designer shirt, but is saved when Alya starts recording the whole fight scene that was ocurring between them, and after that, they hit it off and become good friends. They even get to the part where Alya even starts giving a positive attitude toward her whenever she messed up and even went to the fair with her. At the end of the movie, Marinette even comes to the ball in a beautifully, handmade dress, and Alya compliments on it, saying it looked gorgeous.

•For unknown reasons, Chloé calls Marinette "Marinella". This is never explained, however, it's likely that it is just a name she made up to make fun of Marinette.

•Funny enough, this could be a reference to one of the well known fairy tales: Cinderella.

•As Ladybug in the movie version, her yo-yo string when it attached to the waist is black, but in the show, her yo-yo string that attaches to her waist is red.

•Her hair tie in the movie is pink, but in the show, it's red.

•When Marinette sings Reaching Out, she said that she "dreamed of calling it home." This implies that she has just recently moved to Paris, however this is not confirmed in the movie.

•Also, when Tikki says "coccinelle", Marinette is shown to be confused, coccinelle means Ladybug in French, implying that she is not fluent in French due to presumably still moving in and adjusting to the city.
