  1. Markham (/ ˈmɑːrkəm /) is a city in York Region, Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 30 km (19 mi) northeast of Downtown Toronto. In the 2021 Census, Markham had a population of 338,503, [2] which ranked it the largest in York Region, fourth largest in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), and 16th largest in Canada. [3]

    • Spend the afternoon in a park. Toogood Park is a 330-hectare park that is famous for its pond. The park is located in Unionville and is a great place for an afternoon stroll.

    • Shop at First Markham Place. I feel like I’ve definitely walked through First Markham Place (also known as FMP) at least 100 times in my life. My parents worked in the area, and it was pretty much one of the only places to hang out back when I was in high school over a decade ago!
    • Have a spa day at Go Place. You might’ve seen Go Place pop up on your Instagram feed, and if you haven’t, you’ll definitely want to pay it a visit. It’s a super chic wellness spa with all kinds of different themed specialty rooms, including a volcanic rock room, ice room, and jade room.
    • Shop at Pacific Mall. PMall was like the cool, older sister to FMP back in the day. It’s a lot bigger, with a lot more little shops that you can stop into and a lot more food options.
