Aumale ( [o.mal], Arabic: أومال Awmāl) is a former French département in Algeria. It existed from 17 March 1958 to 7 November 1959. It was named after the town of Sour El-Ghozlane, which at the time was called Aumale, after Henri d'Orléans, Duke of Aumale .

La ville d’Aumale est située à 124 kilomètres d’Alger sur le versant Nord du djebel Dirak au milieu d’un vaste plateau à 850 mètres d’élévation. Elle est érigée sur un site ou se sont succédés Auzia, ville romaine importante et un poste fortifié turc nommé Sour El Ghozlan (La muraille des gazelles).
