I was deeply saddened to hear the news about Bill Walton. He was a class act and touched our family in an unexpected and profound way. My father, a former NBA player from the 1950s, passed away in 2007. After his passing, my mother, brothers, and I came home to a heartfelt message from Bill Walton expressing his condolences.

Jul 14, 2022 · Walton closed out the Sixers in game 6 of the 1977 Finals with a 20/23/7 + 8 blocks. For that whole Finals he averaged 19/19/5 and almost 4 blocks per game. Any time this is brought up I always recommend finding a copy of The Breaks of the Game by David Halberstam, it is the best sports book ever written & chronicles the Blazers & the late 70s NBA.
Saw the sad news that Bill Walton died of prostate cancer. A little concerned because apparently he caught it early stage 1 in 2016. Does anyone know anything about his prostate cancer journey? Prayers for his family. Read that he had passed on Sunday, from a long battle with cancer.
