- Geto Boys - “Mind Playing Tricks On Me” Listen, man, this track is just so fucking good. It's endlessly quotable, the hook sampled from an Issac Hayes track is instantly recognizable and Bushwick Bill's closing verse is a thing of beauty that perfectly sums up what it's like to have your world crowded by things that aren't there.
- Z-Ro - “Mo City Don” Let the truth be told: Z-Ro pulled a vintage Lil Wayne here and took another person’s beat and completely annihilated it. In this case, we’re not talking about anybody, we’re talking about Erik B and Rakim.
- Geto Boys - “Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta” Listen, we're not going to discuss that certain Mike Judge movie from the '90s that used this song perfectly in a montage.
- Scarface. Often considered as the greatest southern rapper of all-time, or in general one of the greatest in all of hip-hop, Scarface’s legacy states that his influenced on hip-hop and the rap game cannot go unnoticed.
- UGK. UGK may not have been the first but were the most inspirational southern rappers. The Underground Kingz from the small town of Port Arthur came into the game during the late 1980s and eventually released their debut album Too Hard Too Swallow.
- Geto Boys. The pioneers and the first true southern and Texas rappers, Geto Boys opened the door for artists from the South that inspired to become rappers in hip-hop.
- Lil Keke. One of the greatest southern lyricist and the original “Freestyle King,” Lil Keke was the top standout artist of the Screwed Up Click, before venturing into a successful career as an artist building his own brand.
