Ōta (大田区, Ōta-ku) is a special ward in the Tokyo Metropolis in Japan. The ward refers to itself in English as Ōta City. It was formed in 1947 as a merger of Ōmori and Kamata following Tokyo City's transformation into Tokyo Metropolis.

Ōta (大田) Ward is a suburban area of Tokyo, between Shinagawa and Kawasaki. The name "Ota" is a combination of O mori (大 森) and Kama ta (蒲 田), two former wards which merged to form Ota Ward. Omori and Kamata remain the major urban centers in the ward. The ward has an official bilingual information site for visitors, Unique Ota.
