Jan 9, 2014 · HOWEVER, My Blue Heaven is a full-stop masterpiece, for several reasons. Sure, the numbers are smart and cleverly executed, but the film itself is wonderfully unsentimental yet uncynical in how it completely avoids all of the melodrama inherent in the material (how many light and funny musicals begin with a miscarriage?!).
