  2. Mar 1, 2010 · Hiya. The trouble is, different names ate used in different areas of the country, so you really need to look up all possible combinations when you are looking for a care home. In our area EMI is used for a separate dementia unit attached to a care home. It's for people with more advanced dementia who have behavioural problems, or other health ...

I know the csci site just distinguishes between dementia and non-dementia. From a practical point of view, I suppose EMI will have restricted access, while simply being ...

  7. Jan 27, 2010 · Jan 27, 2010. #2. EMI stands for “elderly mentally infirm”. A care home which is registered with the Care Quality Commission as an EMI home should be able to meet the needs of dementia sufferers. There are some homes which are just for EMI residents, whereas others take both residents with EMI needs & those with “general old age” needs.

  8. May 26, 2017 · So - some EMI Nursing homes can and do 'put up with' quite a lot. The SW is just trying to save money - we all know funds are scarce, but that is NOT your mUm's problem. She is entitled to and deserves the level of care that her condition requires, and 117 funding should cover this without the need for top ups.
