Gusts of wind move and shift the worn wires, which results in an unstable connection and arcing. Flickering lights can be pretty annoying, but they also present a potential fire hazard.
Oct 25, 2006 · Turn off the power at the breaker box for a particular circuit. Pull a switch out of the box and see if the wires are wrapped around the screws or if they used the stab backs. If stabbed, use a small screwdriver and remove the wire and place it under an adjoining screw. Stab backs are notorious for causing flickering lights.
Jul 29, 2014 · The lights only flicker when the pressure switch closes and the well pump kicks on - every time. They flicker very slightly & very quickly and then return to normal. That doesn't sound much different than a quick normal slight dimming of the lights when an a-c condensing unit starts.
