Every year, we award roughly 1,500 grants to institutions with transformative ideas and scalable solutions with the aim of achieving the greatest impact.
President of the Ford Motor Company and son of company founder Henry Ford, Edsel Ford created the Ford Foundation in 1936 at the age of 43 to “receive and administer funds for scientific, educational and charitable purposes, all for the public welfare.”
The Ford Foundation is the one of the largest private foundations in the United States, with an endowment of $16 billion. We use our financial resources to help our grantees achieve the greatest possible impact.
