Jan 30, 2018 · Kuopio is a Finnish city sandwiched between two huge lakes in Finland’s Lakeland area, and is one of the most underrated tourist destinations in the country. It may be a fairly small city, but there is a lot to do in and around it, and a full calendar of festivals and events.
From the top of the mountain, the city’s most famous landmark, Puijo Tower, greets travelers. In Kuopio, the distance from home to nature is at most 500 meters. A quarter of the beautiful harbor city’s area is water, and half is pure forest landscape rising beyond the horizon.
Kuopio is the capital and largest city of North Savonia. The city is surrounded by lakes from three sides, which supplies loads of beaches and the feeling of water being always close. Some of the wooden houses arranged as a grid have been preserved in the centre which makes it a nice place to visit.
