It's a pun. Hannah asks Tom, her long-time friend and unrequited love, to be the maid of honor at her wedding to Colin, but Tom realizes that he is still in love with Hannah and, supposedly, does the honorable thing by marrying her himself. Therefore, he is made of honor.
