North Babylon is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the Town of Babylon in Suffolk County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 17,509 at the 2010 census.
The lush countryside of North Babylon became known for an abundance of large estates owned by wealthy New Yorkers, including Long Island Rail Road President Austin Corbin, August Belmont, Col. M. Robert Guggenheim, Hall of Fame baseball player John Montgomery Ward, and Royal Phelps.
The 0.9-mile long North-South corridor features two public schools, the North Babylon Public Library, a core commercial section, as well as a variety of residential land uses. In its center, most businesses, restaurants as well as the Marion G. Vedder Elementary School and the newly built Parkway Village Estates are located.

Packed dirt & asphalt trails ring the lake with occasional workout stations & with a few additional paths that wind around the park. Path is well maintained, there is a good playground & fields & there is a north-south path that leads from Belmont Lake to Southards Pond, which is about 2 miles south.
