Commandments (Entolai) Philo of Alexandria (ca. 20 B.C.E. – 50 C.E.), who knew the Bible in Greek rather than Hebrew, echoes and even expands upon the Septuagint translation by calling the Decalogue “the ten statements or oracles” (tous deka logous ê khrêsmous; On the Decalogue 32).
