Jun 27, 2023 · Jordan is a beautiful country with fantastic people but it's facing a lot of problems—over 50% youth unemployment, few economic opportunities outside of Amman and Aqaba, etc. To that end, there are a lot of young children either begging for money or trying to sell trinkets around tourist sites.

Need at least 2-3 in Petra alone, 2-3 in Wadi Rum, and 1-2 in Dead Sea, add on 1 if you want to stop in Madaba, and 2-3 if you want to visit Amman.

Oct 7, 2022 · Yeah, unfortunately I didn’t get the sense that the animals were treated too well- not horribly but not great. To be fair, there is also a decent amount of child labor that happens in Jordan along with other moral violations. It’s unfortunate, but I don’t think pouring money into the locals’ economy is doing much harm.
Oct 26, 2021 · I assume one had stayed overnight in Jordan, (50JD) and the other went to Petra immediately (90JD). If you've paid 90JD but stay overnight you can claim the extra 40JD. The extra 40JD is because tour coaches come over from Israel, go to Petra, and head back to Israel without putting any money into the Jordanian economy.

Amman, Petra, little Petra, Jerash, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea. As others mentioned, wonderful people except overly persistent in Petra. Also, get the 3 day pass for Petra. There’s too much to see in one day imho. All of that (minus little Petra) is on our list.

Jan 11, 2022 · I was living in Tel Aviv at the time, and did one of those tourist packages where they pick you up at the border in Aqaba early in the morning and take you up to Petra for the day, then take you south where you camp in sort of glamping tents overnight, then spend time in wadi rum the next day and then drive you back to the border that afternoon.
