The Maghain Aboth Synagogue (Hebrew: מגן אבות, translit: Ma'gen Ahvot, "Guardian of Patriarchs" or "Shield of our Fathers") is a synagogue in Singapore. It is located at 24/26 Waterloo Street in Rochor, within the Central Area at Singapore's central business district.
Maghain Aboth Synagogue (MAS) is the oldest surviving synagogue in Southeast Asia, and is one of Singapore’s two synagogues, the other being Chesed-El Synagogue. The name of the synagogue means “Shield of Our Fathers” in Hebrew.
Located in the former Jewish neighbourhood, Maghain Aboth Synagogue is the oldest surviving synagogue in Southeast Asia. It is a living monument that bears witness to the contributions of the small but close-knit Jewish community in Singapore since the British colonial period.
Having undergone extensive renovations, the Synagogue is now more beautiful than ever and is counted among Singapore’s most noted historical monuments. In 2004, the community celebrated the 125th anniversary of Maghain Aboth and we look forward to the next milestone!

Dec 20, 2023 · Ceremonies such as Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah (the rite of passage from childhood to adulthood for boys and girls, respectively) as well as weddings and funerals, are also conducted in the synagogue. In 1978, the Jews in Singapore celebrated the centennial anniversary of Maghain Aboth Synagogue.
