Anvil in 2010. Anvil is a Canadian heavy metal band formed in Toronto in 1978. The band currently consists of founding members Steve "Lips" Kudlow (vocals, guitar) and Robb Reiner (drums, percussion), along with bassist Chris Robertson (bass) who joined in 2014.

Started in 1978 as Lips, and released their first album independently under that name, but changed it after signing to Attic Records to avoid confusion with disco act Lipps, Inc. The debut album was then re-released under the new name. Anvil has a tradition of giving all of their albums alliterated three-word titles.

Jan 24, 2023 · Canadian metal veterans Anvil have announced a 26-date US tour and confirmed they've started work on their 20th album. The band say they have written 13 tracks for the upcoming follow-up to last year's Impact Is Imminent. In a post on their official Facebook page, they say: "13 smashing tracks all written.
